3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
29 Jul 50: Conscripted at KUMCHON (金川). Assigned to Mobilization Section. Commissioned Jr Lt.
9 Oct 50: The Mobilization Section was ordered to retreat.
Retreated to a point between KUMCHON and PYONGSAN.
11 Oct 50: PW was captured by ROK Army.

The Mobilization Section at KUMCHON consisted of two captains, four Jr Lts, and four M/Sgts.
Unit Duties:
PW’s Mobilization Section was called the “GUN” (郡) Mobilization section, and was attached to the “DO” (道) Mobilization section.
They received orders from the “DO” Mobilization section once a week for a specific quota of men to be conscripted per week. “GUN” Mobilization Section in turn gives orders to the Internal Affair Section of each “MIYON”. When the men are gathered and they are taken to the “GUN” Mobilization Section, and from there they are sent to the “DO” Mobilization Section located at SARIWON (沙里院) for physical examination.
PW stated that any person who deserted or who was opposed to the conscription was forced out of the “GUN” with his family and all their belongings were confiscated by the Internal Affairs Section of the “MIYON”. PW did not hear of any killings.
Communications:
Communications between the “DO” and “GUN” Mobilization Sections were conducted by telephone. After air bombardment by UN aircraft, communication by phone was cut, so bicycles were used.
