3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
3 Aug 50 - Conscripted into the civilian reserve unit.
5 Aug 50 - PW and 2,000 men arrived at KAESONG (開城).
16 Aug 50 - Unit arrived at KUMCHON (金川).
20 Aug 50 - Arrived at SOHUNG (瑞興).
24 Aug 50 - Arrived at CHERYONG. 1,000 men took basic training consisting of close order drill.
15 Sep 50 - Arrived at HAYAN MIYON (花陽面).
20. Aug 50 - Arrived at MEGON RI (매공리), 5km S of CHWYA-RI. The 2,000 men were sent to various units. PW was assigned to Ind Comm Co, 2nd (470) Regt, 34th Div.
4 Oct 50 - PW and five men went to CHUKCHON-NI (竹川里) on DS from Comm Co to disassemble telephone lines at a former military installation. FW heard that 38 Parallel Security Brigade was stationed here, and was ordered to the front lines.
9 Oct 50 - Returning from CHUKCHON-NI, PW and five men met the 97 Regt and heard that they were moving to SHINCHON. After returning to the Comm Co, PW heard that 2nd (470) Regt was moving north in the PYONG AN BUK TO (平安北道) Area, on the night of 10 Oct. 50,
10 Oct 50 - PW and. one other person deserted.
13 Oct 50 - Arrived at PAEKCHON (白川) and surrendered to UN Forces.

The 2nd (470), Regt was composed of 3 Bns. The Comm Co was directly attached to the 2nd (470) Regt. PW heard that the total strength of the 470th Regt was approx 3,000 men. He heard that one of the Bns was stationed at YONGDANGPO and another on an island near YONGDANGPO. He also heard that the 34th Div Hq was located at HAEJU.
Equipment :
On 2 Oct 50, Comm Co was provided with 3 rifles, one to each platoon.
Communications:
Civilian telephones were being used by this unit.
