PW deserted his platoon while the unit was being bombarded by UN aircraft and artillery and surrendered to UN forces.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
17 Feb 50 - Conscripted into the NK Army at SANMIYAN RI.
20 Feb 50 - 13 Jul 50 - Arrived at CHINNAMPO took basic training. upon completion PW was promoted to Jr Sgt.
13 Jul 50 - 23 Sep 50 - Arrived at SONGCHON, and was assigned to newly organized 19th Div, 2nd Inf Regt, 1st Bn, 1st Co on 17 Sep 50. PW was commissioned a Jr Lt.
9 Oct 50 - 10 Oct 50 - 2nd Regt arrived at KAESONG. Meanwhile 19th Div was still at SHONGCHON. On 10 Oct 50. PW surrendered to the UN forces.
Unit Organization and Strength:
Original Organization:
(19th Div - 5000-6000)
PW's knowledge is limited to the 2nd Regt. Regt had 3 Bns, 3 Cos per Bn. There were approx 1000 men in the 2nd Regt.
Equipment:

Each Co had 12 auto rifles (Russian make) with 250 rds; 12 HMG (Russian make) with 420 rds per gun.
Unit Duties:
to patrol the occupied area, however, due to lack of units the 19th Div was sent to the front line.
Communications:
Runners were used between each unit.
Intentions:
Intention of the 19th Div, upon departing SONGCHON ON 23 Sep 50, was to take defense positions along the IMJIN River near CHANGDAM. However, 19th Div was ordered to KAESONG due to the advance of the UN forces.
Morale:
Morale of the unit was very low because the majority of the men were forced into the NKA. PW stated that if any NKA soldiers retreated they were killed by the NK military police. In came an entire unit retreated all the officers in the unit would be killed.
