3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
3 Jul 50: Volunteered at HUNGNAM and sent to Officers Training School for one month.
4 Aug 50: Sent to SHINIUJU and assigned to 94th Regt Hqtrs as Chief Engr. Trained recruits for 15 days.
19 Aug 50: Commissioned Sr Lt in Engr Branch.
27 Sep 50: Left SHINIUJU for SIBYON-NI & TOSAN
11 Oct 50: PW and 4 others were sent out to reconnoiter vicinity of wooden bridge (100 m long) located 6 km S of TOSAN.
12 Oct 50: Surrendered to UN Forces.
Unit Organization & Strength:
94th Regt - 2,300 men.
Eight sections directly under Regt, consisting of sub-machine gun Co; anti-tank Co; 76 mm arty Co; communications Co; engr plat; Security plat; medical section; and a veterinarian section.
Equipmont:
45 mm arty, HMG, submachine guns & rifles.
The 94th Regt (583 Unit) was armed with only a few rifles when they departed SHINIUJU. Unit received equipment and arms at PYONGYANG before going into battle. Believed 90% of Unit armed at PYONGYANG.
Unit History:
94th Regt was organized at SINIUJU 20 Aug 50. All officers & men were recruits with about one month training. The Regt’l Comdr was believed to have been in the 8th Route Army.
Unit left SHINIUJU 27 Sep 50 and headed for SIBYON-NI & TOSAN. Regt stopped at PYONGYANG for equipment and on 11 Oct 50 the 1st Bn established defensive positions at TOSAN, 2nd Bn at KUHALI. The Regt’l Hq was supposed to have joined the unit at SIBYON-RI.

Knowledge of other Units:
A replacement center is located at SHINIUJU, where new units are organized. When PW left here 6 Bns of fresh troops were. observed and one Regt was being organized.
