3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
8 May 49 - Informant volunteered for the Army at PYONGYANG. Received infantry basic training until 31 Oct 50.
1 Sep 50 - Moved to SADONG (寺洞), located in PYONGYANG and assigned to the 2nd Automatic Rifle Co, Automatic Rifle Bn, 348 Unit, 19th Div.
25 Sep. 50 - Moved to CHANGDANG (長端) and dug air raid shelters.
30 Sep 50 - Moved to KAEJON (鷄井).
12 Oct 50 - Attacked by US Forces, retreated to KUMCHON ( ) and hid in the mountains.
14 Oct 50 - Captured by US Force
Unit Organization and Strength:
Automatic Rifle Co - 200 men.
Last known composition of Unit:
2nd Automatic Rifle Co - 15 men, 15 rifles.
Equipment:
12 Tanks; Automatic Rifle Bn - 150 automatic rifles.
Communications:
Had telephones in Bn Hqs which were used for communication between Bn’s. Used runners between companies.
Morale and Propaganda:
Morale of unit was initially high, but dropped as UN forces advanced. Did not see any propaganda leaflets.
Unit History:
(Hearsay) The 46th Regt was formerly an independent unit, under the jurisdiction of 19th Div o/a 20 Sep 50, and was called the 348 unit and was organized at PYONGYANG.
