Information was cooperative and appeared to be average in intelligence and observation. PW was in good health during interrogation. Information obtained appears to be reasonably reliable.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
15 Feb 48 - Inducted into the NK Army at NANAM (羅南) and immediately attached to 2nd Div, 6th Regt, 3rd Bn, 7th Co. PW received training in infantry tactics from 15 Feb 48 until May 49 as a private.
May 49 - PW was transferred to PYONGYANG (平壤) and attached to the 9th Brig, 5th Bn, 2nd Co, as an NCO.
Aug 49 - with 10 other NCO’s PW was sent SINUIJU (新義州) and attached to the TONGYANG (東洋) Spinning mill as a workers physical trainer.
18 Jul 50 - PW was transferred to SUKCHON (肅川) and assigned to the 19th Div, 2nd Regt, 1st Bn, 1st Co.
22 Jul 50 - PW was commissioned a Jr Lt and assumed command of the 4th Plat.
28 Sep 50 - The whole 19th Div with its sub-units either marched or motored from SUKCHON.
8 Oct 50 - Arrived at IMJIN River and the whole 19th Div retreated northwest to the vicinity of KAESONG without confronting any UN Forces.
10 Oct 50 - The 19th Div was engaged in combat for the first time. The 2nd Regt alone was left in KAESONG to cover the retreat of the 19th Div north.
11 Oct 50 - PW and another plat ldr voluntarily surrendered to elements of 2nd Bn, 8th Cav Regt, US Forces.

Unit History:
The 19th Inf Div was activated in SUKCHON on 28 Jul 50 with a strength of about 3,000 men. The 3rd Regt was omitted, due to the lack of personnel, and until PW was captured on 11 Oct 50 the 19th Div carried out its duties with two regts. The Div retreated to KUMCHON (金川) on 11 Oct 50. Present whereabouts are unknown.

Morale:
The overall morale of the unit was low, brought about by the fear that the unit was going to be defeated in battle. The majority of the men in this unit were recruits with no previous experience.
The men of the unit observed many UN Propaganda Leaflets in secret and they influenced numerous soldiers to surrender.
