3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
7 Sep 50 - conscripted into the NKA and received physical examination at SARIWON.
9 Sep 50 assigned to the 27 Brigade at KUMCHON and received basic training for 15 days.
17 Sep 50 - sent Unit to KAESONG.
11 Oct 50 - retreated to KUMCHON, deserted unit and surrendered to the UN Forces on 14 Oct 50.

Equipment:
46-mm mortars, anti-aircraft guns, HMGs, automatic rifles.
Unit History:
9 Sep 50 the 27 Brigade was at KUMCHON where the men received basic training. It is believed that this unit was organized o/a Sep 50. Officers below company grade and all EM were recruits. Field grade officers and above were men with battle experience believed to have been in the 8th Route Army.
17 Sep 50 the 27 Brig arrived at KAESONG and dug defensive positions on the SONGAK SUN Mt.
11 Oct 50 the UN forces attacked and the unit retreated to KUMCHON where the 27 Brig is believed to have been enveloped by UN forces.
It is believed that the 27 Brig is made up of 7 Bns. The 1st and 2nd Bn were the HMG Bns and the rest of the Bns were Inf. It is believed that only 40% of the Brigade was armed.
Morale and Propaganda:
Unit’s morale was low. PW, after reading instructions from the propaganda leaflet, deserted unit and surrendered.
