3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
10 Jul 50: Conscripted at PYONGYANG and sent to OCS for 20 days.
1 Aug 50: Assigned to the 46th Ind Regt.
20 Sep 50: Unit was assigned to the 19th Div at KUMCHON.
13 Oct 50: Surrendered to UN Forces.
Unit Organization and Strength:
Original Strength and Organization: - 46th Tank Regt - 12 med tanks & 700 men
Actual battle organization and strength: - 19th Div - about 3,000 men
Equipment:
12 tanks, 102-mm Arty pieces (no. unk), 30 x 46-mm Arty pieces, HMG’s, LMG’s, rifles and land mines.
Unit History of 46th Ind Tank Regt:
21 Aug 50 - Newly organized at PYONGYANG, most of the men were recruits. The officers were mostly from the CCF with battle experience.
23 Aug 50 - Arrived at PANGGONG-NI.
1 Sep 50 - Arrived at PYONGYANG and was equipped with 12 medium tanks and telephones.
20 Sep 50 - Arrived at SUKCHON and was assigned to the 19th Div. The 46th Regt was redesignated the 348th unit.
25 Sep 50 - Div was ordered to go to SEOUL be cause of the UN Forces landing at SEOUL.
26 Sep 50 - Arrived at SUNGOLI instead of SEOUL. At SUNGOLI the unit was equipped with rifles and ammunition.
2 Oct 50 - Div arrived at CHANGDAN but was told to retreat beyond the 38th parallel and hold a defensive position there.
Disposition of Ammunition Dump:
It is believed that an ammunition dump is located in a mountain about 2 km N of the SUNGOLI RR Station. No bomb can damage this ammunition dump because it is dug very deep into the mountain.
Communications:
Telephones were used by the Bns and higher units. Cos and lower units used runners.
Knowledge of Other Units:
It is believed that a Div is stationed at HAEJU and a Div at SINANJU.

Morale and Propaganda:
Morale of unit was very low and practically all men were ready to desert. PW carried a propaganda leaflet when he surrendered. PW states that most men surrendered aften reading leaflets.
