3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
19 Jun 49: Inducted into 3rd Div Arty, 3rd Div at WONSAN. Received training until 13 May 50.
24 May 50: Transferred to 2nd OCS, P'YONGYANG. Received 2 months training.
5 Jun 50: 578th Ind Inf Regt activated at HAMHUMG.
14 Jul 50: Assigned to 578th Ind Inf Regt, 3rd Bn, 8th Co, 4th Plat at HAMHUMG (咸興). Received further training with unit.
14 Sep 50: 578th Regt moved to UIJONGBU (議政府) and took up defensive positions.
2 Oct 50: Begun withdrawal towards YONCH'ON. PW began lagging, took the wrong road at a fork and was temporarily lost from unit.
8 Oct 50: At a point 8 km S of YONGCH'ON PW ran into a group of ROK troops and was captured.
Unit History:
Unit suffered may casualties from American Artillery at UIJONGBU on 3 Oct 50 but heard that unit was to regroup and would receive substantial replacements at YONCH'ON.

NKA Training Center in PUNGMYON WON-Ni (北平院里) located 6km NE of CHAJAK (자작):
This training center consisted of approximately 40 one-story wooden barracks, located 2km North of the PUNGMYONG WON-Ni station. As of Apr 50, 2,000 inductees were in training. No AA Gun emplacements were observed.

Morale of the unit was extremely low as most of the personnel had dependents who could not make a living by themselves.
