3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
9 Sep 50 - Drafted into Security forces at PYONGYANG. No military training.
13 Sep 50 - Arrived SEOUL
15 Sep 50 - Commissioned Jr Lt and assigned to 36th Ind Bn, Security forces, SEOUL, as finance officer.
16 Sep 50 - Bn departed for ILSAN (一山), 10 km N KIMPO (金浦) to repel the UN landing. was in combat until 28 Sep 50.
28 Sep 50 - PW’s unit retired to the outskirts of PONGILCHON-NI.
4 Oct 50 - Arrived PYONGYANG (平壤), via MUNSAN, KAESONG, and YONGJONG-NI.
8 Oct 50 - PW with Bn Hq arrived SONGCHON-NI (松峴里), while the lesser units of the Bn marched toward SONGAKSAN (松岳山), 2 km N of KAESONG.
10 Oct 50 - PW’s unit (36th Bn) was transferred to 107th Regt of NKA as a replacement Bn. PW doesn’t know where the 107th Regt Hq was.
13 Oct 50 - PW with 4 other men were captured by US troops at the outskirts of SONGCHONG-NI.
Unit Organization and Strength:
36th Bn had 622 men, in SEOUL, 15 Sep 50. This Bn was made up of Recon Plat; Eng Plat (No equipment); AT Plat (no anti-tank guns); Medic plat (1 surgeon, 4 nurses) and 4 infantry Cos.
Last known composition of unit:
10 Oct 50, 36th Bn was transferred with the 150 remaining men to the 107th Regt.
Equipment:
Weapons - approx 45% of the 36th Bn had Russian rifles, no HMG, no LMG, three howitzers (obtained from 107th Regt, 12 Oct 50).
Vehicles - One truck.
Unit History:
36th Bn was organized originally as an independent Bn of Security Forces. It was transferred to 107th Regt, 10 Oct 50.
Communications:
36th Bn had no signal equipment until it obtained 2 radios from the 107th Regt, 12 Oct 50. These 2 radios were captured by US troops, 13 Oct 50. Due to lack of communications it is very difficult to get equipment and food.
