3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
20 Jul 49 - Conscripted at CHINNAMPO, commissioned Jr Lt, and sent to PYONGYANG to work in the Defense Ministry as a procurement officer. Procured building construction material for various units for the construction of barracks.
3 Nov 49 - Was sent to CHUUL (18 km SW of NANAN) to supervise repairs of an Army Hospital.
5 Aug 50 - Was sent to HAEJU and was assigned.to the 74th Inf Regt as supply officer.
15 Oct 50 - Was ordered to retreat to SARIWON and while enroute, was captured.

Original organization and strength: (43rd Div - 12,000)
74th Ind Regt - 3 Bns
Sections directly under Regt: One Engr Co, one Security Plat, one Transport Co, one Comm Co, and one AA Co.
Actual battle organization and strength:

4 120mm Arty, 4 76mm Arty, 5 45mm Arty, 2 45mm Mortars, HMG, LMG, Anti-tank guns and Anti-aircraft guns.
Unit History:
15 Sep 50 - 43rd Div was organized at HAEJU. 3 Bns of the 74th Ind Regt made up the 1st Regt. (74th Regt). The other Regts (97th and one other) were made up of recruits and the remainder of the other 7 Bns of the 74th Ind Regt,
7 Oct 50 - 43rd Div took up defensive positions along the YESONG River while the Div Hq was located at YONAN.
13 Oct 50 - Unit started retreating north. PW believes that most men of his unit were captured.

Morale was very low and men were deserting. He did not see propaganda leaflets.
