2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative, but not very intelligent. He has been hospitalized since 17 Aug 50 and his information is very limited. Reliability poor.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
22 Jul 49 - PW volunteered for the NKA and was assigned to the 3rd Co, 1st Bn, 13th Regt, 6th Div at SARIWON. Received basic training until 30 Aug 50.
30 Aug 49 - Twelve men including PW from the 1st Bn departed for SINUIJU (新義州) by train.
1 Sep 49 - Reached SINUIJU and was assigned to the NCO Training Bn, 6th Div. PW received infantry training here.
15 Oct 49 - Promoted to Jr Sgt (下士)
29 Mar 50 - PW and 11 others returned to original unit in SARIWON.
1 Apr 50 - PW was promoted to Sgt (中士) and took command of the 1st Sqd, 3rd Plt, 3rd Co, 1st Bn, 13th Regt.
27 Jun 50 - 13th Regt crossed the 38th parallel.
O/a 25 Jul 50 - 13th Regt reached KUNSAN (群山) and engaged in battles at the IMJIN river (臨津江), Han river (漢江) and HONGSONG.
O/a 10 Aug 50 - 13th Regt departed KUNSAN.
15 Aug 50 - Commissioned Jr Lt (少尉) on route to CHONJU (全州).
17 Aug 50 - Wounded and sent to the Corps (designation unknown) hospital in CHONJU. Hospitalized until 25 Sep 50.
25 Sep 50 - The Corps hospital in CHONJU was disbanded. Patients with minor wounds were ordered to flee North on foot. Patients who were unable to walk were evacuated by truck. About 40 patients including PW headed N. through the mountains.
O/a 1 Oct 50 - Only about 20 men including PW reached KERYONG-SAN (鷄龍山).
O/a 5 Oct 50 - Surrender leaflets were dropped by UN aircraft at KERYONG-SAN. The 20 men read the surrender leaflets but could not believe the contents.
O/a 8 Oct 50 - UN aircraft installed with loud speaker flew above KYERYONG-SAN and told the men to surrender.
10 Oct 50 - The 20 men decided to surrender and headed for PUGANG-NI (芙江里) where an ROK policeman fired at them. PW raised his hand and surrendered to the ROK policeman. Rest of the men fled but they surrendered later.

Last Known Composition of Unit:
While PW was hospitalized at CH’ONJU, he heard from a wounded soldier from the 13th Regt that the 13th Regt was annihilated at HADONG (河東) in the early part of Sep 50.

Disposition:
PW estimated that there were approximately 200 troops remaining in KYERYONG-SAN (1020-1490) as of 10 Oct 50. These troops were from various units and equipped only with small arms. PW heard from fellow soldiers that they had 2 HMG’s. They lived on sweet potatoes, corn and wheat. PW believes that they would eventually surrender due to lack of food. PW believes that surrender leaflets would be very effective on them.
