3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
11 Jul 50 - Conscripted at PYONGYANG and assigned to the 300th Guard Unit.
12 Jul 50 - Arrived at KAESONG.
11 Oct 50 - Left KAESONG and arrived at KUMCHON.
12 Oct 50 - One Bn of the 300th Guard unit left KUMCHON and arrived at SONAK Mt to take defensive positions.
13 Oct 50 - Bn was attacked by UN forces. When Bn retreated N, PW surrendered.
Unit Organization and Strength:
300th Guard Unit - 3 Bns (640 men to Bn)
Unit History:
11 Jul 50 - The 300th Guard unit was newly organized at PYONGYANG. All men were recruits, but officers were believed to be experienced.
Morale and Propaganda Leaflets:
Morale of the troops was very low because they were forced into the army. It is believed that most men surrendered after reading propaganda leaflets.
