Unit History (75th Ind Regt):
At least ½ of this Regt was drafted from HAMHUMG (咸興). Origin of the other troops were unknown but they were all fresh draftees. Ages ranged from 18 to 38 years. Fresh draftees were being sent into this unit as late as Aug.
Most of the field grade officers were attached to this unit from the beginning but the Jr grade and NCOs were promoted from the ranks. Travelling on foot at night, the whole Regt reached YONCHON (漣川) with no losses though they were attacked twice by air. Their destination was SEOUL. PW contacted ROK forces on 7 Oct 50 2 km S of YONCHON (漣川). PW was not aware that UN forces were in this area. Everything was left behind in the retreat.

HAMHUNG Training Camp:
Located 1 km N of main RR station at the northern sector of the town. A former Jap Army camp. Two-story red brick barracks (about eight, 30m x 15 m) were here. A white cross was painted on one of the barracks. As of 20 Sep 50, no air attacks was received though the RR station has been destroyed as well as the huge HAMHUNG Nitrogen plant.
A division-size force had been training here but they had moved out. The city prison was located about 300 m SSE of this camp.
