FIELD REPORT (521 - MISD - 0006) 21 September 1950

1. PERSONAL DETAILS:
PW NAME: KIM, Sho Gen (金相善)
RANK: Junior Sgt
DUTY: Rifleman
PLACE OF CAPTURE: KIMPO Area
DATE OF CAPTURE: 20 Sep 50


2. ASSESSMENT:
Subject was cooperative, and did not hesitate to give information.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
The 2nd Bn Hq was located at SHALIN (沙里院), KOKAIDO. The 78th Regt consisted of four battalions, and each battalion had approx 600 soldiers.
One rile was provided for every four men. Each rifleman was given 100 rounds before leaving SEOUL, and each squad had one machine gun.
The Bn Commander was a Lt Colonel. The 78th Regt left SEOUL on 18 Sep, heading for INCHON.
PW and most of his company members were capture without fighting.
The Army train which transported the 78th Regt passed SEOUL during the night.
In NORTH KOREA, men from thirteen years old to thirty-five were picked up and were sent to the South Korean front.
They were watched by the political members of the North Korean Army.
When American soldiers were captured they were sent to HEIJO, the capital of NORTH KOREA. PW did not observe any American PW camp in SOUTH KOREA.
