2. ASSESSMENT:
PW appeared to be unintelligent. Although fairly cooperative, able to furnish only limited information. PW considered fairly reliable by interrogator.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
30 Nov 48 - Volunteered for NKPA. Assigned to 2nd Regt, 2nd Div, NANAM (羅南). Received 8 months military training consisting of dismounted drills, forced marches, military discipline, lectures on dis-assembly and assembly of M1891/30 rifle.
Jun 49 - 2nd Div transferred by rail to HANGNAM (興南). Continued military training.
Sep 49 - PW and 21 from same unit transferred from 2nd Div, HANGNAM, into 5th Div, NANAM. PW believes over age (over 25 years) and/or poor physical profile reason for transfer. PW assigned to 10th Regt. Continued receiving military training NANAM.
15 Jun 50 - 5th Div left by rail from NANAM.
20 Jun 50 - 5th Div arrived at YANGYANG (襄陽) via YONGHUNG (永興), WONSAN (元山), KOSONG (高城).
22 Jun 50 - 5th Div left YANGYANG, by foot, for field maneuvers in south direction.
25 Jun 50 - 5th Div crossed 38° Parallel, advanced along coast.
30 Jun 50 - 5th Div entered SAMCH'OK (三陟) over coastal highway through KANGNUNG (江陵). Continued march southward.
20 Jul 50 - 5th Div engaged by ROK Army units. Advanced and entered MYONGHAE (寜海) via ULCHIN (蔚珍).
30 Jul 50 - 5th Div entered YONGDOK (盈德) after 5 days battle with ROK Army units at northern approach to city.
O/a 1 Aug 50 - 5th Div left YONGDOK by foot. Continued advance south along coastal highway. Under constant off shore attack. Strafed and bombed by US aircraft. Heavy casualties (number unknown).
O/a 20 Aug 50 - 5th Div entered P’OHANG-DONG. Heavy artillery shelling from ROK-US Army unit positions. 5th Div reinforced with 500 conscript replacements from rear area. Issued arms in Div.
23 Aug 50 - 5th Div withdrew from P'OHANG-DONG under pressure from US-ROK Army forces to point 8 km N of city.
23 Aug 50 - 3 Sep 50 - 5th Div re-supplied and re-organized in area 8 km N of P’OHANG-DONG. 7th Div deployed. in area NW of city (location unknown) (hearsay). Rice and ammunition hauled to 5th Div area over highway from rear area (north) by trucks. Riflemen issued 100 rounds each. HMG supplied 500 rounds each.
3 Sep 50 - 5th Div left area (8 km N of P'OHANG-DONG) by foot. Div objective to take P'OHANG-DONG and US airfield 8 km S of city.
6 Sep 50 - 5th Div entered P'OHANG-DONG. Forced to withdraw same day to north of city. Under US-ROK Army counterattack.
11 Sep 50 - 11th and 12th Regts, 5th Div advanced in south direction around west outskirts P'OHANG-DONG and deployed in area 1 to 4 km W of city. 10th Regt (PW’s unit) advanced from point N of P'OHANG-DONG to W direction thence along west slope of wooded mountain 8 km SW of P'OHANG-DONG.
11-13 Sep 50 - 10th Regt under continuous day-night artillery-mortar attack from US-ROK Army positions.
15 Sep 50 - 10th Regt withdrew units to the north. PW decided to surrender. Remained hidden in woods.
15 1500 Sep 50 - PW captured by ROK army units.
