o/a 8 Sep 50: 4th Regt, strength approx 2,000 men, crossed the NAKTONG River at a point approx 200 meters north of the IBANG-MYON highway bridge. The crossing was made at about 2300 hrs under cover of regt’l arty fire. Approx 100 man were lost through enemy action and drowning. Immediately upon crossing the river, the unit stormed US positions on the east bank of the river. By 2400, the enemy positions were neutralized.
o/a 9 Sep 50: 0030 hrs the 4th Regt attacked enemy positions 2 km east of the river and occupied the hill by 0700 hours. As soon as the hill was occupied, the Regt pushed eastward to a point about 8 km from the river and occupied a low ridge about 400 meters west of a 200 m high hill. Enemy defense positions were located on the hill.
o/a 9 Sep-13 Sep: 4th Regt remained on the ridge and fought short skirmishes with the enemy. The regt dispatched several teams of 7 or 8 men to destroy enemy tanks located on the above hill. 16 Sep 50: American troops stormed the hill at 1000 hours. The 4th Regt became disorganized in the attack and made a disorderly retreat toward the NAKTONG River. Subject was captured during the engagement.

Morale:
The morale of the troops was very low because most of the men were replacements with little or no training. Moreover, the men knew that the regt'l arty pieces were not functioning because of the lack of ammunition. There were no replacements of lost equipment and the men did not receive any rations from the rear. Some of the dissatisfied NCOs read propaganda leaflets to the man in their squads. This coupled with the inconveniences of the field caused a large number of the men to surrender or desert.
