3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
18 Jul 50 - Conscripted into NKPA, P'YONGYANG. 1,000 conscripts (mostly farmers, ages 17-36) from P'YONGYANG-DO. Received 7 days training consisting of dismounted drill, rifle marksmanship. Fired 3 rounds on firing range.
31 Jul 50 - 200 conscripts, including PW, designated Defense Ministry Mixed Bn (Code: 522nd Unit) (保衛省 直屬 混成大長). (IN: Hereafter to be referred to as 522nd Bn.) 522nd Bn left P'YONGYANG, by rail, same day.
9 Aug 50 - 522nd Bn arrived at SEOUL via SARIWON (沙里院). (From SARIWON travelled by truck to SEOUL.)
11 Aug 50 - 522nd Bn left SEOUL by rail.
20 Aug 50 - 522nd Bn arrived at YONGJU (永州). Rail travel by night only. Train hidden in railroad tunnels during day.
21 Aug 50 - 522nd Bn left YONGJU, by truck, over highway.
25 Aug 50 - 522nd Bn arrived at ANDONG (安東). Continued south to NAKTONG River bank.
25 2200K Aug 50 - 522nd Bn and 10 x trucks crossed NAKTONG River over sand bag underwater causeway previously constructed by local villagers under NKPA unit supervision. From river crossing point 522nd Bn continued by truck over highway in southern direction.
26 Aug 50 - At point 16 km south of NAKTONG River crossing, 522nd Bn truck convey strafed during night by UN aircraft. One truck, loaded with troops (number unknown) and supplies, rendered unserviceable as result of strafing. 10 were wounded.
9 Sep 50 - 522nd Bn arrived at UlSONG (義城). Continued by truck in SE direction. 522nd Bn detoured southwest of KUSAN-DONG (九山洞 ), already occupied by NKPA unit.
10 Sep 50 - 522nd Bn occupied and deployed in wooded mountain immediately east of highway at point 2 km S of KUSAN-DONG. No opposition encountered during troop movement into wooded mountain. Bn Hq located in KUSAN-DONG.
10 1100K Sep 50 - 522nd Bn position shelled by ROK Army units.
11 - 19 Sep 50 - Constant shelling from ROK Army positions. Strafed and bombed by UN aircraft.
19 0800K Sep 50 - 522nd Bn withdrew in direction of KUSAN-DONG. PW remained behind.
19 1500 Sep 50 - PW captured by ROK Army unit.

NKPA Units:
9 Sep 50 - In UISONG, PW estimated 700-800 NKPA Inf troops quartered in houses within village. Troop status undetermined.

26 Aug - 9 Sep 50 - On highway south of ANDONG, location unknown, PW observed 5 x T-34/85 Medium, travelling south.
