PW was cooperative and information seems reliable. He was with the 2nd Bn since Jan 50 but was very unobservant.
LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNITS:3rd Regiment C.P., 8th Division, was located approximately 4 Km north of PALKONG SAN (1160-1450) on 15 Sep 50.
Objective of 3rd Regiment was YONGGHON at time of his capture on 19 Sep 50.
PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:Inducted on 19 Jan 50 at YANGYANG.
Trained as rifleman with 2nd Bn, 3rd Regt, 8th Division at YANGYANG (1½ months).
The 2nd Battalion departed YANGYANG on 24 Jun 50 by foot and arrived PALKONG SAN 12 Sep.
REPLACEMENTS:After arriving on PALKONG SAN (1160-1450) the 2nd Battalion received 50 South Korean replacements on 15 Sep 50. They came from SEOUL. They received M1 rifles (rds unknown), and one grenade per man. Most of them knew how to use rifles but lacked training. PW received one issue of 80 rounds (per rifle) on 16 Sep 50.
