2. ASSESSMENT:
PW not very intelligent. He had never heard of a 3rd Regt, 7th Div although he is certain of the existence of another regt in the 7th Div. He had never heard of the UN INCH’ON landing. There is no westward or northward movements of NKPA troops in the TESAN-Myon Sector.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
15 Feb 50 - PW inducted at SINCH'ON (信川). Assigned to 8th Bn, 7th Border Guard Brig, stationed at SINCH'ON. The 7th Border Guard Brigade performed guard duties being assigned a sector of the 38° Parallel N of KAESONG (開城). Up to the outset of hostilities.
PW received basic infantry training at SINCH'ON for 3 months and was thereafter engaged in house construction near KUMCH’ON (金川).
28 Jun 50 - 1st Bn, 2nd Regt, 7th Div marched across the 38° Parallel. According to squad leader, 7th Border Guard was integrated into the NKPA and redesignated 7th Inf Div composed of the 2nd Regt and another regt.
1st Bn fully armed at this date.
o/a 15 Aug 50 - 1st Bn remained in reserve and arrived YOSU (麗水) via SEOUL, TAEJON, SUNCH'ON (順天). 1st Bn, which was the only unit in YOSU at this date, was responsible for the security of YOSU, especially its coastline, in the event of an amphibious attack by UN Forces.
o/a 28 Aug 50 - After sunset, a little over a company of 1st Bn shuttled (2 trips) by 2 small fishing boats from YOSU to HADONG (河東). Remainder of battalion marched from YOSU to HADONG.
o/a 30 Aug 50 - Entire battalion assembled at HADONG and departed immediately for CHINJU (晋州).
O/a 6 Sep 50 - 1st Bn arrived TAESAN-Myon (代山面) via CHlNJU and UIRYONG (宜寧). Bn waded NAM River SE of UIRYONG. No bridges or bridge building equipment observed at crossing point.
1st Bn, while on the approach march, was ambushed by US tank supported infantry on a dirt highway, at daybreak. 1st Bn, caught by surprise, dispersed into the surrounding hills, discarding its heavy weapons; that is, its mortars and HMG’s. Casualties were fairly heavy.
O/a 8 Sep 50 - PW's platoon (approx 30 men), losing all contact with Bn, moved into a small village approx 12 km from the ambush point. Platoon attacked by US infantry just outside village. Platoon disorganized and retreated to points unknown. PW, wounded in leg, remained in village until captured by C Co, 35th RCT.
