PW was not able to read & write Korean. The 1st Plt, 1st Co, 3rd Bn, 574 Unit dispersed in all directions after being shelled by ROK troops. In this rout PW was captured by ROK troop on 15 Sep 50.
Military info on the 3rd Bn, 574 Unit, very limited.
Apparently, PW was unobservant.

Mission of 3rd Bn, 574 Unit was to proceed to YONGCHON and perform occupation duties.
PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:Inducted 6 Jul 50 at SINUIJU.
Received 3 weeks of Inf basic training at SINUIJU.
Departed SINUIJU 3 Aug 50, arrived SANSONG 6 Sep 50.
15 Sep 50, PW was captured by ROK troops.
MORALE:The morale of the 3rd Bn, 574 Unit, was low because most of them thought it was foolish to lose their life in this war. PW stated that if they had the opportunity most of the 3rd Bn would desert.
