120mm Mortar Bn was composed of three mortar Co's, Command plt, and a Supply Plt.

Observed approximately 80 x BA64 with the Armored Car Bn.

LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNITS:
The HQ of Ind Motorcycle Regt was located in CHINJU on 23 Aug 50.
1st and Command Plts, 2nd Co, 120mm Mortar Co, lnd Motorcycle Regt was located in TONGYONG on 23 Aug 50. Unit was attached to the 7th Div. Unit was resting after capturing TONGYONG when it was attacked unexpectedly by ROK Marines. On 23 Aug 50, 120mm Mortar Bn, (less 1st & Command Plts of 2nd Co) was located near CHlNDONG-NI attached to the 6th Div.

PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted, 22 Jun 47, at MANAM. Received 8 months infantry training with the 2nd Div at NANAM. 2nd Div moved to HAMHUNG during April 1948. Transferred to Ind Motorcycle Regt in PYONGYANG on 22 Feb 50. Ind Motorcycle Regt was organized during Feb 50 at PYONGYANG. Departed PYONGYANG 30 Jun 50. Arrived TONGYONG 18 Aug 50.
Regt traveled as a unit to CHINJU. From CHINJU two plts (1st & Command Plt) of 2nd Co, 120mm Mortar Bn, Ind Motorcycle Regt, were dispatched to TONGYONG to aid elements of 7th Div in securing TONGYONG. After the capture of TONGYONG. 13 Aug 50, the units were stationed there.
On 23 Aug 50, ROK Marines attacked and retook TONGYONG. PW’s Unit hid in mountains near TONGYONG. Informant surrendered to ROK Marines on 231000K Sep 50 because he believed that it was useless resist any further.

REPLACEMENTS:
Ind Motorcycle Regt never received any replacements (as of 23 Aug 50).

FOOD & AMMO SUPPLIES:
15 day food supply was carried with the unit. Food was generally insufficient.
Ammo was last issued at CHINJU on 13 Aug 50.

ARMOR & ARTILLERY:
8 x 76mm Field Guns of the Arty Regt, 7th Div were observed at CHINJU on 13 Aug 50.

MORALE:
Morale of men in Ind Motorcycle Regt was fairly high until they reached CHINJU on 13 Aug 50. Morale ebbed after reaching CHINJU because of UN Air strikes.

US PW’S:
During battle at CHOCHIWON o/a 6 Aug 50, approx 80 US soldiers were captured by N Korean 6th Div. Believed that PW’S were wounded. They were taken care of by N Korean Medical Unit.
