Subject seemed to be of average intelligence. He was cooperative and talked freely. His information seemed fairly reliable.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:a) Chronology:
19 Jun 49 - Inducted into 591 Ind Bn at SOPO, received clerical training.
20 Jul 50 - Transferred to 18th Div, 2nd Inf Reft, 2nd Bn, 5th Co.
Duty - Platoon leader
18 Sep 50 - Captured by “G” Co, 1st Marine Div.
b) Unit Organization and Strength:
Subject was transferred to the 18th Div, 2nd Inf Reft, 5th Co. Strength of the 18th Div was unk, however approx 2000 men were in each Inf Regt. Subject did not know how many Regts were there in the 18th Div, however he did know of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Regt. Under the 1st Regt, were 3 Inf Bns (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) and under the 2nd Regt, there were 3 Inf Bns (4th, 5th, and 6th).
Strength of a Bn was 500 men when PW joined the unit but there were only 2 men left when he was captured.
There were 3 Inf Co’s in each Bn.
Strength of each Co was 120 men when subject joined the unit.
There were 3 Inf Plts and 1 Tpt in each Co. 32 men in Inf and 8 men in the plt.
The 18th Div was called the 18th Inf Brig prior to 20 Jul 50.
When the war began the 18th Div was stationed at SOPO (西浦) and stayed there until 20 Jul 50 then went to YOB TUN PO (永登浦). From there it moved to BU PYONG (富平). The 1st and 2nd Inf Regts of the 18th DIv were annihilated there.
Destination of the 18th Div was supposedly INCHON.
No other unit was in the Bu PYON area with the exception of the 18th Div Hq which was located in a place called YONG DUNG PO (永登浦).
This unit had never been engaged before.
The 1st and 2nd Inf Regts remained there with the Hq until 9 Sep 50 then they departed for BU PYON and the Div Hq was believed to have been moved to SEOUL.

15 mortars (82mm), 9 H/MG, 27 L/M in each regiment.
No tanks, no trucks.
Subject believed that all the weapons in the 1st and 2nd Regt were destroyed.
Basic load for each man - 1 hand grenade and 100 rounds of rifle ammunition.
