This is a special interrogation of two (2) artillery personnel, using the Artillery ERI.

INTERROGATOR: R.L.I

The officers of the 2nd Div, Arty Regt all had their initial training at the First Military Academy located in PYONGYANG. The Academy trains men for Infantry and Artillery. The Arty course is 2 years. Upon graduation the officers are assigned to Arty Regiments. The NCO’s and EM were trained at HAMHUNG, where the Arty training facilities for the 2nd Division were located.
Through air strikes the unit lost, in order mentioned, mostly men, guns and their trucks. Through counter-battery fire the loss was greatest on men, trucks and their guns. Counter-battery fire had very little effect on the guns.
In the event of air attack, the men hide in fox holes and leave the guns as they are.
The guns were all manufactured in RUSSIA. Most of the weapons were dated 1938.
The maximum range of a 122mm Gun is 11800 meters. The maximum range of a 76mm gun is 12800 meters.
The guns were always moved by trucks. In the vicinity of the NAKTONG River, after all the trucks were destroyed, the weapons were moved by oxen. It took two (2) animals to pull each gun.
The three (3) types of ammo used were HE, AP and AP Incendiary. Time fuses were sometimes used on the HE for aerial bursts.
According to T/O & E, the 76mm Gun will carry 560 rounds and the 122mm Gun will carry 320 rounds at all times. However, depending upon supplies and the gunners, the weapons carried from 50 to 250 rounds each.
The ammo supply point is always located about 8 Km behind the gun positions.
The weapons always lined up parallel to the enemies' front line. Infantry units are not used for area security.
The guns are fired singly and by company, depending upon the fire mission.
The weapons are used both in offensive and defensive warfare.
In the event an Infantry - Artillery team is formed, the Inf Commander commands.
Telephones are the principle means of communication.
Observers infiltrate behind enemy lines and report targets and effects of fire by wireless (voice and code).
One observer is used at each echelon to adjust fire. Telephones are used by the observers.
Meterological information was never used by the Arty units.
