PW was very cooperative; seems quite intelligent; information seems fairly reliable.
PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:Inducted 18 Apr 47, at KANGGYE, PW received six months of basic Inf training. Training included rifle marksmanship, calisthenics, closeorder drill, etc.
After spending 13 months at KANGGYE, PW and 45 men from KANGGYE Training Camp, departed for KOSANJIN on 1 Jun 48.
At KOSANJIN, PW was utilized as Border Guard for four months.
On 1 Oct 48, PW departed KOSANJIN for KUMCHON.
At KUMCHON, PW and approx 600 men of 2nd Bn, 1st Div, constructed barracks (Until May 49).
From May 49 to Mar 50, PW was a patient in KUMCHON Hospital.
From Mar 50 to 28 Jul 50, PW received basic Inf Training at HAEJU.
Arrived TONGYONG 17 Aug 50.
On 181100K Aug 50, while PW’s Unit (3rd Bn) was resting at a Mt 200 meters E of TONGYONG, they were attacked by unk ROK troops.
Just as firing started, PW and 6 other man from his unit ran away. After spending three days in Mt areas, PW surrendered to unk ROK troops.
