10th Regiment composed of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Battalions, AT Rifle Squad, Guard Platoon, Signal Company, Medical Company, 120 mm Mortar Company, 76 mm Company, and 46 mm Company.
2nd Battalion composed of the 4th, 5th and 6th Companies, HMG Company, Mortar Company, Signal Platoon, 45mm AT gun Platoon, Supply Platoon, and Medical Platoon.
5th Company composed of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd rifle platoons, HMG Platoon, Medical Squad.

PW was inducted on 2 Nov 47 at CHANGCHUN (長春), YONGKIL HYON (永吉縣), MANCHURIA, into MAHCHURIAN BO AN DAE 11th Div, 1st Regt, 1st Bn, 1st Co, as a cook. PW stated that 11th Division was composed of 3 Regiments with Koreans.
PW and his Regiment (which was armed with former Japanese Army weapons), left MANCHURIA for Korea on 24 Jul 49. This group did not know its destination or mission.
While travelling to NANAM from CHANGCHUN, the towns of TOMUN and CHONGJIN were passed.

On 25 Aug at NANAM, the 1st Regt, 11th Division, MANCHURIAN BO AN DAE, was redesignated to the 10th Regiment, 5th Division, NKPA. There, PW worked as Company cook until 10 Jul 50. PW and his Division left NANAM on 10 Jun 50 traveling south, and arrived at UNJAE SAN, 10 Sep 50.
On 11 Sep 50, the 2nd Bn, 10th Regt, 5th Division was surrounded by ROK troops and suffered heavy casualties. On 12 Sep 50, this Battalion received 150 replacements from WONSAN.
PW deserted the unit and was captured by ROK troop on 141000 K Sep 50 at UNJAE SAN, 12 Km south of POHANG DONG.

2nd Battalion annihilated on 13 Sep 50 at UN JAE SAN.
The 1st and 3rd Battalion also annihilated on 13 Sep 50 at UNJAE SAN, 10 Km SW of POHANG DONG Airfield.
5th Division Headquarters was situated on a mountain 4 km southwest of POHANG DONG on 13 Sep 50.
FOOD & AMMO SUPPLIES:Food was brought from the rear by a truck unit.
Confiscated food from farmers. PW was fed on the average of one rice ball a day.
Ammunition delivered from rear by ox carts and South Korean laborers. PW states that upon the annihilation of the 2nd Battalion, on 13 Sep 50, two (2) 82 mm mortars with 20 rounds, one (1) HMG with 3 ammo boxes, one (1) PPsh SMG, and two (2) rifles were buried at UNJAE SAN.
ENEMY INTENTIONS:Objective of 5th Division was PUSAN via POHANG DONG Airfield and KYONGJU.
