PW was very cooperative. Due to limited military service, information limited.
T/O & E AND STRENGTH OF 574 Ind Regt, 3rd Bn, 3rd Co, 2nd Plt.574 Independent Regiment composed of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Infantry Battalions, one Reconnaissance Platoon, each Infantry Battalion composed of three Infantry Companies, HMG Company and Mortar Company, each Infantry Company composed of three Platoons.
LOCATION & ACTIVITIES OF UNITS:1st and 2nd Battalions were last reported stationed in YONGCHON area, on 8 Sep 50.
PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:Inducted 7 Jul 50, at South SINUIJU (Airfield). Received approximately one month basic training. Training included rifle (wooden model) marksmanship, close-order drill, calisthenics, etc.
Departed SINUIJU with the entire 574th Independent Regiment. Arrived WHABUK MYON 4 Sep 50.
PW's unit. (3rd Bn) was located on a mountain 4 Km east of WHABUK MYON ( ). On 11 Sep 50, PW was stricken with Malaria and was taken to a village to recover.
On 161500 K Sep 50, PW was captured by ROK troops.
ARMOR & ARTILLERY:PW observed three guns (resembling 76 mm M-1942) at WHABUK MYON, 10 Sep 50. Guns were placed at the entrance of the village. Guns were for 574 Independent Regiment.
