PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:Inducted 6 Apr 50 at HOERYONG with 15th Div. Training Battalion. PW was a member of Training Battalion when 15th Division moved South from HOERYONG. Reached YONGCHON 13 Sep 50.
After reaching YONGCHON, the 15th Division was attacked by ROK Unit on 15 Sep 50. Division retreated to KUMDAE DONG and dug in on high ground 200 meters east of KUMDAE DONG. Informant deserted his unit and surrendered to ROK 8th Regiment near KUMDAE DONG on 180800 K Sep 50.

REPLACEMENTS:From Aug 50 to Sep 50, approximately 800 men were assigned to 15th Division as replacements. These men, including both South Korean Conscripts and North Koreans, were said to have received only 10 days training.
ARMOR & ARTILLERY:On 17 Sep 50, three (3) 76 mm Field Guns located 5 km NE of KUMDAE DONG. Heard that these guns were only artillery remaining in the 15th Division.
