PW uncooperative, a dyed in the wool Communist. Very belligerent when answering questions. Heard from fellow PW’s in camp about the invasion of INCH’ON, but refuses to believe that it was possible. Information considered unreliable.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
20 Sep 47 - Volunteered for the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army in HUNCH’UN, Manchuria. Assigned to 72nd Regt, 3rd Bn, 4th Co, 2nd Plt, 8th Sqd. 1,000 men in 72nd Regt, all Koreans from Manchuria. Commanding Officer, Chinese. Rank, Sr Col. Chief of staff was a Korean Officer - rank, Col. Trained in Manchuria for one year.
15 Aug 49 - Departed HUNCH'UN, Manchuria, by rail - arrived NANAM (羅南) 15 Aug 49. Entire 72nd Regt. Chinese CO did not accompany 72nd Regt to KOREA. Assigned to present organization in NANAM. Trained in NANAM for 3 months. Promoted to Sgt after basic training in NANAM.
15 Jun 50 - Div - 10,000 men departed NANAM by rail, arrived YANGYANG (襄陽) 20 Jun 50. Prepared to invade South KOREA.
25 Jun 50 - Departed YANGYANG, 5th Div marched, arrived CHUMUNJIN (注文津) 29 Jun 50. Engaged in battle with ROK troops for one day. ROK troops retreated to unknown locality. Loses for NK, 200 men killed. No less of equipment.
30 Jun 50 - Departed CHUMUNJIN, 5th Div arrived KANGNUNG (江陵) 1 Jul 50. Net no ROK opposition.
4 Jul 50 - Departed KANGNUNG 5th Div arrived SAMCH'OK (三陟) 7 Jul 50. No ROK troops observed.
8 Jul 50 - Departed SAMCH'OK, arrived ULCHIN (蔚珍) 13 Jul 50. No ROK troops observed.
15 Jul 50 - Departed ULCHIN, arrived YONGHAE (寧海) 22 Jul 50. No ROK troops observed.
23 Jul 50 - Departed YONGHAE, arrived YONGDOK (盈德) 31 Jul 50. Engaged in battle with ROK troops for 20 days. ROK troops retreated after 20 days of fighting. Losses, 100 men killed, 50 trucks, 5 x 45-mm AT Guns, 2 x 120-mm Mortar M1910, 2 x T-34/76 tanks.
25 Aug 50 - Departed YONGDOK, arrived KANGGU (江口) 30 Aug 50. Engaged in battle with ROK troops for 10 days. ROK troops retreated to unknown locality. Losses, unknown.
10 Sep 50 - Departed KANGGU, arrived AN’GANGNI (安康里) 11 Sep 50. Engaged in battle with ROK troops for 2 days, and retreated 6 km N of AN’GANGNI. Losses, 50 men killed. PW’s Regt of 1000 men went in hiding in mountain. Captured when he came out of biding to look for food for men in unit.

PW believes that from Regt CO on down were all KIA.
Morale of PW’s Unit:
Morale of PW’s unit high. Thought they were winning the war. Trained to hate democratic way of living. Were taught Communistic ideas. Two weeks ago PW's units morale began to drop as they were constantly being bombed by aircraft. No leaflets observed.
