2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was not talkative and did not seem to want to divulge information. Made contradictory statements during interrogation. He stated that he was a member of the Communist Youth Organization.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
20 Feb 49 - Volunteered for the NKA at KANGGYE (江界). Assigned to 611th Ind Security Guard Co, 2nd Plat, 3rd Sqd. Engaged in Security guard duty at KANGGYE for 15 months.
11 Jun 50 - Arrived P’YONGYANG. Assigned to Ind NCO Training Bn. After one month training, commissioned Jr Lt.
14 Jul 50 - Departed P’YONGYANG with approx 2,000 Security guard personnel, including 60 officers.
28 Jul 50 - Arrived CH’ONGJU (清州) via SEOUL with 640 men. Assigned to 316th Ind Security Guard Bn, 2nd Co, 1st Plat. Stationed at SAKCHU-Myon (㴊州面) located 2 km S of CH’ONGJU.
28 Sep 50 - 316th Ind Security Guard Bn was attacked by ROK Forces and disorganized.
29 Sep 50 - PW with two other men arrived WONJU (原州) on foot.
1 Oct 50 - Surrendered to ROK Forces.

Unit Organization and Strength:
The 316th Ind Security Guard Bn, 640 men, consisted of four Security Guard Co’s. Each Co, 160 men, consisted of four platoons.

Unit History:
316th Ind Security Guard Bn was activated in P’YONGYANG, 14 Jul 50. The personnel of the Bn were all from North KOREA.

PAK, IN U (朴日禹) Maj Gen, 45
Head, NK Internal Affairs Ministry Security Guard.

Morale and Propaganda:
Morale or personnel was low due to lack of ration and equipment.
PW observed no propaganda leaflets.
NKA propaganda was to the effect that the NKA must conclude this Civil War with victory at the earliest possible data as the ROK Forces with the assistance of the US will be able to reorganize and re-equip their forces.
