3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
21 Aug 50 - Conscripted at PYONGYANG (平壞).
24 Aug 50 - Arrived NAMCHONJON (南川) assigned to 1st Co, 76 mm Arty Bn, 26th Brig, (634 Unit). PW trained his platoon in the fundamentals of 76 mm Arty.
16 Sep 50 - 26th Brig arrived at YONCHON (連川) and took defensive positions.
11 Oct 50 - Brig met ROKA - retreated. PW was ordered to retreat, however, he disobeyed and surrendered voluntarily to ROK army at KUMHWA.
Unit Organization & Strength:
The (634 Unit) 26 Brig was composed of six battalions, as follows: Engineer, 120 mortar, 82 mm mortar, 76 mm Arty, 45 mm Arty and an Inf Bn. There were three companies, namely Transportation, medical and security directly attached to the 26 Brig Hq. The 76 mm Arty Bn was composed of three Btrys. The total strength of the Arty Bn was approx 210.
Equipment (76 mm Arty Bn):
8 trucks (Russ make), 8 Guns 76 mm - M1944 (Russ make), and 60 Sub MG’s (1939-1945 M, Russ make).

PW believed the 26th Brig was newly organized at NAMCHONJON in month of Aug 50.

Morale & Propaganda:
Morale of the men was low, because they heard that the NKA units in SK were being wiped out. PW stated that if the men refused to join the army, their families would be killed.
