2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was not talkative and not observant. He stated that he was hospitalized during early part of the war and saw no action.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
10 Apr 47 - Inducted in NK Defense Training Center (保安幹部訓練所) at SINUIJU (新義州).
8 Feb 48 - The NK Defence Training Center was absorbed into the NKA 1st Div. Assigned to 1st Div, 1st Regt, 76mm Howitzer Co.
20 Feb 48 - Entered P’YONGYANG 1st Military Academy Arty course.
2 Oct 49 - Commissioned Jr Lt upon graduation. Assigned to 6th Div, 13th Regt, 76mm Howitzer Co 1st Plat as Plat Ldr.
10 Jun 50 - Hospitalized at SARIWON field hospital of the 6th Div due to abdomen trouble.
11 Aug 50 - Released from hospital and assigned to the 39th Brigade, 120mm Mortar Bn, 2nd Co 1st Plat as Plat Ldr.
10 Sep 50 - Arrived TAEJON for duty with the 39th Brigade. Engaged in construction of caves in mountains located 12 km NW of TAEJON (大田).
24 Sep 50 - Departed due to advancing UN Troops.
25 Sep 50 - Arrived YONGI (燕岐) with 39th Brigade. Brigade was disorganized at this point. Personnel were ordered to regroup at WONJU.
28 Sep 50 - Surrendered to ROK police force at SARIMYON (沙梨面).

Unit Organization and Strength:
The 39th Brigade, approximately 2500 men, consisted of six rifle Bns, one 120mm Mortar Bn, one 82mm Mortar Bn, one 45mm AT Co, one Signal Co, one Recon Co, One Medical Co, and a Transportation Co. The 120mm Mortar Bn, approximately 150 men, consisted of three cos.

Equipment:
Approximately 200 of the 2500 en in the Brigade received uniforms. The brigade was not issued any equipment or arms before it was disorganized.
Unit history - The 39th Brigade was activated in TAEJON on 10 Sep 50, and was disorganized on 25 Sep 50 before being fully organized or receiving any equipment.
Intentions - The 39th Brigade was forces to retreat from TAEJON and was disorganized at YONGI on 25 Sep 50. PW as Plat Ldr was ordered to take the soldier recruited in South KOREA across the 38th parallel to NK through WONJU.

REMARKS - Formerly Cultural officer of the 2nd Div.

Morale and Propaganda:
Observed a UN safe conduct pass leaflet after his Brigade was disorganized, at CH’ONGJU on 27 Sep 50. The leaflet was quite effective. PW surrendered to ROK police force after seeing this leaflet.

The NKA Propaganda Was As Follows:
1. The ROK Govt and policies are corrupt. It is the suffering Korean people in the South who we must save.
2, The US has never withdrawn all of her occupation troops from SK, but Russia have left the government in the hands of the Korean people in North KOREA.
3. The NK Airforce is only attacking UN Naval Forces at sea.
4. Every NKA soldier captured by the UN forces is killed on the spot.

4. GENERAL:
1. PW heard that rifles were produced at a plant located 2 km N of the P’YONGYANG RR station.
2. PW stated that he was a member of MINCH’ONG (民青) Communist Youth Organization.
