2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative but his military information was limited, He surrendered to the police force. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
2 May 49 - PW was inducted into the NKA at WONSAN with a rank of Lt (  ) and was attached to the Security Bureau of the Internal Ministry. Assigned to a Quarantine Station as a health officer and inspected passengers coming into WONSAN on ships.
28 Jul 50 - Arrived in SEOUL and was immediately assigned to the 104th Security Regt, 1st Bn, Supply Section, as head of the Provision Dept. Promoted to the rank of Sr Lt (大尉).
30 Jul 50 - The 1st Bn departed SEOUL on foot.
9 Aug 50 - Arrived in HAMYANG and was stationed here temporarily for 15 days.
27 Aug 50 - The 1st Bn arrived in KOSONG (固城) and was stationed here for about 2 weeks.
10 Sep 50 - Arrived at SAMCH’ONP’O and the units of the 1st Bn was deployed along the coast near CAMCH’ONP’O (三千浦).
24 Sep 50 - The 1st Bn received orders to retreat to TAEJON.
27 Sep 50 - PW arrived in TAEJON but was unable to contact the other units of the 1st Bn. However, he heard that the 1st Bn headed for CH’ONGJU but PW was unable to join them because the road to CH’ONGJU was cut-off by UN Forces.
30 Sep 50 - PW travelled over the mountain and surrendered to the police force in OKCH’ON together with 2 other officers.

Unit Organization and Strength:
Original Organization and Strength:
The 104th Security Regt was composed to three rifle Co’s - HMG Co, 82 mm Mortar Co, At Rifle Plat, signal plat, MP plat, medical plat, engineer plat, transportation plat, and Security Guard Sqd. The TO strength of the 1st Bn was 912 men.

Last Known Composition of Units:
The organization of the 1st Bn was not changed but the total strength was 837 men, as of 24 Sep 50. 80% of the troops were recruited from the SK Volunteer Corps.

Equipment:
As of 24 Sep 50, The 1st Bn, 104th Security Regt, had 5 US 81mm mortars, 4 US HMG, 5 US LMG, 1 truck, and 1 jeep. Only 40% of the troops had rifles (Japanese Meiji 38 and type 99 Rifles).

Unit History:
The 1st Bn was activated in SEOUL 28 Jul 50 and the 104th Security Regt was activated Aug 50.

Morale and Propaganda:
The morale of the troops was low because majority of them were recruited from SK and possessed no will to fight. Majority of the troops had opportunities to observe US propaganda leaflets while stationed in SAMCH’ONP’O and KOSONG area and the PW believes that it was very effective in lowering the morale of the troops. The low morale of the troops was the biggest factor in the complete route of the units when they were ordered to retreat.

While stationed in SAMCH’ONP’O and KOSONG, the Supply Dept of the 1st Bn, 104th Security Regt, was able to issue the full rice ration to the troops and a small amount of meat and vegetables. All food was obtained through the Local Provisional Government.
