PW was sincere, cooperative and intelligent.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
26 Apr 49 - Inducted into the NKA at SARIWON (沙里院). Received some close order drill and assigned to the 1st Div, 1st Regt, 3rd Bn.
Jul 49 - Promoted to M/Sgt because of education and knowledge of mathematics.
Sep 49 - Transferred to 45-mm AT Bn as Finance Officer. Warned to be very careful in his associations with the personnel of the 6th Div because they were aggressive and were brought in from CHINA. Their identity was to be kept as secret because of their being CHINA trained.
Apr 50 - Promoted to Jr Lt.
Sep 50 - 6th Div was stationed in CHINJU, and Div Hq was bombed by 4 UN aircraft. The tunnel in which the Hq was located was bombed with HE and Napalm. PW claims that the HE type of bomb or “rockets” were more effective and feared over the Napalm. Approx 1/3 of Div personnel were either killed or wounded. The Div Hq was then moved to YANGCHON where it remained until the latter part of Sep when the Div started to retreat. Their objective was NAMWON. Upon arrival, the troops were told by Bn CO to make their way back across the 38o Parallel as best they could.
26 Sep 50 - Surrendered 20 km N of NAMWON (南原) to UN Forces.

All specialists, such as tank crews, truck drivers, including officers, draw extra pay.
Personnel of NKA were told that if they were killed in action, whatever money they had accumulated in back pay would be sent to their closest relative after the war was won.
Family allotments were in effect usually from a Jr Lt on up, The enlisted personnel wages were so low that marriage was practically impossible. The allotment was deducted from the soldier’s pay. An identification card with the amount specified, plus the husband and wife’s description was made out by the Govt. The wife or the person the allotment is made out to could draw the money from any bank.
SK WON was issued to troops for pay after the NKA occupied SEOUL.
The troops were told they would be punished if they used NK WON.
Partial pay could be drawn and the standard rate of exchange used by NKA Finance Officers were 1 NK WON to 7 SK WON.
Soldiers usually did not draw their wages but left it with Fiance, planning to let it accumulate and draw it in a lump sum after they won the war.
