He was cooperative, appeared to be intelligent, and his memory was excellent. Information is believed to be reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
27 Jun 48 - Drafted into the NKA at SINUIJU (新義州) and assigned to 1st Sqd, Recon plt, 1st Arty Regt, 1st Div; later he served as a gunner of 76mm Field gun in the 1st Arty Regt.
10 Sep 50 - Transferred to 82mm Mortar Co, 5th Bn, 39th Inf Brig located 8 km N of TAEJON (大田). Promoted to Lt (中尉) and assigned as a Co CO. Prior to arriving at TAEJON, he was with 1st Div on TABU-DONG front.
16 Sep 50 - 22 Sep 50 - Rear defense position of the Mortar Co was established 8 km N of TAEJON.
22 Sep 50 - Entire Brig left TAEJON.
26 Sep 50 - 39th Inf Brig arrive at CHOCH’IWON (鳥政院) which was being occupied by the ROK Forces and US troops. 39th Inf Brig decided to scatter. Prior to the retreat all S Koreans whose homes were South of TAEJON were ordered to go to their respective homes. He surrendered 2 km N of CHOCH’IWON when the US troops moved in.
All troops in the 1st Div were originally North Koreans with at least two years of service. As of 9 Sep 1950 the 1st Div was reinforced with 5100 replacements who were all South Koreans, and who had less than one month of infantry training.

Strength: (39th Inf Brig)
The 39th Inf Brig was activated at TAEJON on 10 Sep 1950. All enlisted men in the Brig were untrained SK’s. The total strength was estimated to be 3800 in which 3000 were believed to be captured by the UN Troops.

Equipment:
There was no equipment left in the Brig as of 26 Sep 1950.
