2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was very cooperative and of normal intelligence. PW surrendered to ROK.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
28 May 49: Inducted in NKA and took basic training at P’YONGYANG (平壞), Received special training in the building occupied by the Ministry of Defense and the communications Regt Hq, formerly the 77th Inf Regt Hq of Japanese Army. 2,300 men were assigned to Communication Regt.
2 Sep 49: Transferred to NANAM (羅南) and attached to 5th Div, Communication Bn, Communications Co, Communications Plat.
20 Jun 50: The 5th Div with Div with estimated strength of 12,000 men departed NANAM and arrived KANSONG (杆城) by train.
2 Jul 50: The Div battled its way south along the eastern coast via SAMCH’OK (三涉), ULCHIN (蔚珍), P’YONGHAE-Ri (平海里), YONGHAE (寧越), YONGDOK (盌德).
19 Aug 50: Arrived YONGDOK with 5th Div Hq and transmitted various types of messages through LSEBE (PC6) transmitter mounted on GAZ trucks. Transmitted 5 letters random codes from Hq to various call stations. Remained here for 5 weeks.
25 Sep 50: UN troops made a successful amphibious landing in KANGGUDONG (江口洞) 1230-1490. The 5th Div engaged in battle and suffered heavy losses from aerial attacks and artillery fire. In 30 minutes the entire unit was disorganized and started to withdraw. PW escaped by himself and started northward.
28 Sep 50: PW came across NKA troops in YONGWOL (寧越) but he separated from the rest of surrendered to ROK troops.

The LSEBE (PCG) was mounted on GAZ truck. Source of electricity was battery operated convertor which produced between 800 V to 1500 V. The LSEBE (PCG) required 1500 V to operate efficiently . RF range was up to 80 km with 35 W-40 W output.
Antenna - 10 meter fish pole type (vertical). Frequency - 1000 kc to 9000 kc. Listening device - earphone. Used voice and key using morse code and Korean ONMUN. All secret codes are 5 number random codes. 2 glass tube in mitter and 8 metal tubes in receiver.

PW saw a Russian advisor for the 5th Div with the rank of Lt Col. Regimental advisors were all majors.

Psychological factors:
PW feared aircraft the most, especially the F-80 fighter plane. He saw propaganda leaflets, one of which was a Safe Conduct Pass and the other was about the landing of UN forces in INCH’ON (仁川). He believed the leaflets.
