Informant was of average intelligence and cooperative. PW had no previous experience in communications and knows very little about this subject.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
3 Aug 50: Inducted into Communication Maintenance Section, Advance Security Forces Hq in SEOUL as Jr Lt.
22 Sep 50: Advance Security Forces Hq withdrew. PW remained behind with intention of surrendering. Discarded uniform for civilian clothing.
5 Oct 50: Surrendered to ROK troops.
Organization of Advance Security Force Hq (SEOUL):
The Advance Security Forces Hq in SEOUL carried out its functions through the following sections (部): Staff (參謀), Operations (作戰), Political (文化), Military Affairs (軍事), Communications (通信), Engineer (軍工), Rations (食糧), Clothing Supply (被服), Personnel (幹部), Finance (財政), Medical (軍醫) and Veterinary (獸醫).
PW believed there were seven (7) more sections.
The Communications Section, was commanded by a Colonel. It consisted of an estimated 30 officers and 270 EM. PW believes that all the other sections had the same T/O. There were three (3) subdivisions: wireless, telecommunications and telephone maintenance. Practically all the office phones used were table model and of American, Japanese and Soviet make. There were many field telephones of Soviet, Japanese and American origin but these were seldom used.
