3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
3 Aug 50 - conscripted at WONSON while attending school and sent to OCS at PYONGYANG for one month then assigned to 46th Regt.
5 Aug 50 - the 46th Regt of 500 men was newly organized at SARIWON. The officers were mostly students and the EM were all farmers. Bn CO’s and above were men of previous battle experience.
7 Sep 50 - the 46th Regt arrived at SUKCHON and received 6 tanks, ammo and equipment.
13 Sep 50 - left SUKCHON and picked up 4 more tanks. Was ordered to go to SEOUL but orders were changed to go to CHANGDAN.
30 Sep 50 - arrived at CHANGDAN and dug defensive positions along the IMJIN River.
11 Oct 50 - went to KAEJON and was attached to the 19th Div and held defensive position there.
14 Oct 50 - 19th Div was attacked by UN forces and many men captured.
Equipment (46th Regt):
10 medium tanks, 6 AA guns and 120 automatic rifles.
Knowledge of Other Units:
The 635 Unit was beside the 19th Div at KAEJON.

Morale & Propaganda:
Morale very low due to the lack of training and equipment. Surrendered after seeing propaganda leaflets and hearing surrender instructions from a loud speaker.
4. GENERAL:The 46th Regt is believed to be an Independent Tank Unit which was attached to the 19th Div at YAEJON o/a 12 Oct 50. The 46th was made up of 2 medium tank Bns although only one Bn had tanks. The other Bn was an automatic rifle Bn and it was equipped with about 120 automatic rifles. One AA Gun Co with 6 gun, Recon Plt, Eng Plt, Supply Plt, were all directly attached to the 46th Regt.
Foreign Elements:
While PW was attending the officers training school during Aug 50 at SADON (Located about 8 km S of PYONGYANG) he observed 3 Russian Officers giving instructions to the Korean Instructors of the officers training school.
