Organization and Strength:
He knew the existence of the following units in the Brigade:
1. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th HMG Bn.
a. Each Bn had between 700-800 men.
b. Each Bn was composed to 2 x HMG Co’s and 2 x infantry companies.

7. Infantry Bn.

Heard the 27th Brigade was in the vicinity of KAESONG.

PW’s Bn received blankets and winter clothing near KORANGP’O-Ri.

Morale:
The present NKA units are composed mostly of farmers, who have had no particular indoctrination and seemed to have no will to fight. They all realize that the NKA has lost and morale is low.

STRATEGIC INFORMATION:
1. Underground Activities in North KOREA:
PW was a party of the underground movement in North KOREA. HE belonged to a small group in ANAK (安岳). The extent or the organization of this movement was not known, since orders for activities were received only verbally.
In the vicinity of ANAK, there were 2 or 3 such agents in each Myon (面). This underground activity was started by those who were not imprisoned for Democratic activities.
Lack of weapons limited their activities. Usually their object was to arouse resentment against the present NK Government. At times they tried to assassinate Labor Party Leaders. In the vicinity of ANAK the underground persuaded youths no to enter the NKA and helped them to escape and hide in the hills. The KUWOL (九月山) Mt area W of ANAK was the hideout. Often the underground ambushed NK Police to obtain weapons.
Heard the underground group in ULLYUL (般栗) and SONGHWA (松朱) had been discovered and imprisoned.
The NK underground had contact with the S Korean Labor Party (hearsay).
YOM, Nak Kwon (廉落權) (염낙권), who was imprisoned in the HAEJU Prison, was very familiar with the organization and activities of the movement.
KIM, T’ae YANG (金太陽) was imprisoned in SONGHWA for his underground activities. Is presently free and probably residing there. He is familiar with NK underground movement. Was imprisoned while a member of the NK Democratic Party, and during the investigation of his activities it was discovered that he was a member of the S Korean Democratic Party.
The underground had sympathizers within the Labor Party, and knew of the Labor Party’s activities.

5. GENERAL:
1. PW once tried to escape to South KOREA in Nov 45, but was caught by Russian troops on the 38th parallel. Since then he found no opportunity to escape.
2. Desires to join the ROK Army or work for the UN as a doctor. He always has been an anti-Communist and even at the risk of his life participated in underground activities in North KOREA. He claims he was tricked into the NKA, by being called io the Insurance Bureau for business and then shipped to the NKA. He resented being treated in the same category as other NKA PsW.
