PW was cooperative but lacked detailed military information. He was only fair in intelligence and observation. PW was in service for only two months.
Information obtained seems to be fairly reliable.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
15 Aug 50 - PW was conscripted into the NK Army and immediately entered the Officers Training School in PYONGYANG (平壞).
1 Sep 50 - 27th Brig was ordered to retreat to the outskirts (8 km North) of KAESONG (開城) to set up defensive positions.
21 Sep 50 - 27th Brig was engaged in actual combat for the first time.
5 Oct 50 - Completely routed and disorganized.
Unit Organization:
27th Brig was composed to seven (7) Bns - (1st Hmg Bn, 2nd HMG Bn, 3rd HMG Bn, 4th HMG Bn, Inf Bn, Eng Bn, and Tank Bn). Directly under the 27th Brigade were two Ind Sub-Units (Transp Co and Comm Plt). Each HMG Bn was composed to five (5) Cos - (1st Inf Co, 2nd Inf Co, 1st HMG Co, 2nd HMG Co, and Eng Plt, Storming or attack Plt and Supply Plt).
Unit History:
The 27th Brig was activated in KUMCHON on 1 Sep 50. Each HMG Bn was composed to 713 officers and men.

Morale and Propaganda:
The morale of the PW’s unit was low, due to the fact that the majority of the soldiers were forcibly conscripted into the NK Army and that they had little if any military training.
On one occasion a shower of UN propaganda leaflets fell among the 27th Brig troops in the vicinity of KAESONG. PW believed that they (leaflets) greatly influenced the soldiers to desert.
Foreign Elements:
No Russian Officers or Chinese Communist Forces were observed by the PW in KOREA.
