2. ASSESSMENT:
PW surrendered voluntarily. Information is reliable. Due to short period of service, his military knowledge is limited.
Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
24 Jul 50 - PW was inducted and sent to the 1st OCS, at PYONGYANG. 4,500 other inductees there. Received military training for 15 days.
10 Aug 50 - PW and approx 500 others were commissioned Jr. Lt. With approx 200 new officers PW departed for KUMCHON, where the 27th Brig was to be organized.
14 Aug 50 - Assigned to 2nd Inf Co, HMG 3rd Bn, 27th Brig, as Plt Ldr. No men in his Plt. 3rd Bn’s strength at this time was 20 - all officers.
15 Aug 50 - 27th Brig received replacements who had been mobilized in KUMCHON Area.
Full number of replacements unknown. PW only knows that approx 250 men were assigned to the HMG 3rd Bn. Brig Hq, Recon Co and Eng Bn stationed KUMCHON. HMG 1st - 4th Bn and Ind Inf Bn stationed, KAECHONG (雞井)? 10 km S KUMCHON.
23 Aug 50 - PW’s Bn received approx 550 recruits. With these the 3rd Bn’s strength was increased to approx 800 men and 58 off. Bn trained in KAECHONG Area, until 25 Sep 50.
28 Sep 50 - 3rd Bn crossed 38 Parallel and marched to PONGILCHON. Prepared defensive line there. The HMG 3rd Bn was located in the middle with the 4th Bn on the right and the 2nd Bn on the left flank.
5 Oct 50 - UN troops attacked PW’s unit. Retreated to KORANOPO-RI and KAECHONG.
13 Oct 50 - US troops took KAECHONG. PW with 4 Pvts of his command deserted. Surrendered to US troops.

1st and 2nd Inf Co, 3rd and 4th HMG Co, 45mm Arty Co, 82mm Mortar Co (2 pieces) Eng Co, Sniper Plt, Sig Plt, Anti-Aircraft Rear Section and Bn C P (Staff and Political Section).
Last known strength of the 3rd Bn: Officers - about 20, Pvts - about 100.

Morale:
Low morale because of compulsory service, insufficient weapons and food.
