20 Aug 50 - Inducted at MUKDEN (奉天), and attached to above unit. Received 2 mos trng.
15 Oct 50 - 2nd Bn departed FUNTEN and arrived TUNGHUA (通化) on same day. Travel by foot.
17 Oct 50 - Departed TUNGHUA
18 Oct 50 - 2nd Bn arrived vicinity of KACHICHIN RI (葛田里) and engaged ROK unit in battle. Bn Comdr ordered a retreat to the N.
WEAPONS and PERSONNEL:a. Organization: 2nd Bn had 4 Cos, each CO 3 plats, and each Plat 4 Sqds.
b. Strength: 12 men in each sqd, 50 men in each plat, 170 men in each co, and 680 men in bn.
c. Weapons: 2nd Bn had 10/120MM guns and unknown number of mortars and HMGs. Each man was equipped with model 38 Jap rifle w/90-100 rds of ammo and 2 or 4 hand grenades.
ENEMY INTENTION:Intention of 2nd Bn was to dig fortifications in the mountains near KACHICHAN RI (葛田里), however, the unit was routed before mission was accomplished.
TRANSPORTATION OF EQUIPMENT:Guns and ammo were carried on horseback.
CLOTHING SUPPLY:Men were issued 1 set of winter clothing, 1 blanket, 1 cap, and 2 pairs of shoes.
FOOD SUPPLY:Sufficient grain (kolian) but very few vegetables. Men were fed twice a day.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:a. Tanks: 18 Oct 50, observed 6 tanks parked on both sides of a road about 1 Km S of KACHICHAN P.I T/E power plant. Tanks were well camouflaged with foliage and dispersed over about 2 Kms.
b. CCF: 15 Oct 50, observed 500 to 600 men at MUKDEN (奉天) RR Sta. PW heard that a large number of CCF troops were being dispatched to NK. Destination was not disclosed to men.
