MILITARY HISTORY:7 Oct 50 - Inducted at WONSAN (元山) and sent to PYONGYANG (平壤) and attached to HOISHO (保衛署) Central Whse Co. Later was transferred to the Central Ordnance Depot in PYONGYANG.
4 Sep 50 - PW left PYONGYANG and went to RANAM (羅南) to be attached to the 71st Regtl Hq.
4 Oct 50 - 71st Regt departed RANAM (羅南) and arrived ANSAN MYON (安山面).
5 Oct 50 - PW and 6 men departed ANSAN and headed for ANSU (安水).
26 Oct 50 - PW and 6 men surrendered to Capitol Div.
WEAPONS & PERSONNEL:a. Organization: 71st Regt was composed of 3 inf bns, an arty co, engr co, comm co, scout plat, Hq guard plat, ammo plat and medic co.
Inf bn was composed of 3 inf cos, 2 arty plats, consisting of 45MM and 82MM arty plats, 1 comm plat, 1 medic plat and 1 supply plat.
b. Strength: Strength of 71st Regt was approx 2,300 when PW left the unit at ANSAN.
c. Weapons: 126/7.62MM Degtyarev DP LMG, 56/7.62MM Maxim HMG, 9/45MM AT Guns, 120/82MM Bn Mortars, 6/12.7MM AA MGs, 9/120 MM Regtl Mortars, and 17/3T trucks.
Each man was equipped with a rifle, 70 rds of ammo and 1 hand grenade.
CODE NUMBERS:71st Regt was the 568 Unit.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:PW hid 500/82MM shells, 2,000/12.7MM AA shells, and 1,000 hand grenade in a tunnel approx 500M N of WONPYON (元坪) which is approx 40 kms N or SONGJIN (城津)
