3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
7 Jul 50: Conscripted at HUNG Nam and sent to Officer’s Training School at PYONGYANG for 5 days.
30 Jul 50: Assigned to the 45mm Arty Ind Co. 78 Regt at SARIWON. Unit received training.
16 Sep 50 : 1st & 2nd Bns were committed to battle at SEOUL on 20 Sep 50.
17 Sep 50: 3rd Bn and other elements directly under Regt departed SARIWON.
21 Sep 50: Arrived at the outskirts of SEOUL and established defensive positions. Ordered to retreat to UIJONGBU, while the 1st & 2nd Bns were regrouped. Only the 1st Bn could be regrouped from the former 1st and 2nd Bn. This left the 78th Regt with 2 Bns. After regrouping, unit was ordered to defend Seoul City.
27 Sep 50: Unit was ordered to retreat to UIJONGBU and up to PYONGYANG.
10 Oct 50: At PYONGYANG the 78th Ind Regt was enveloped and unit either was annihilated or captured.
Unit Organization & Strength:
78 Inde Regt (567 Unit) activated on 25 July 50 at SARIWON.
Knowledge of other units:
25th Brig was at Seoul when 78th Regt was enaged in battle.
Personalities:
78th Inf Regt CO - PEK, Hak Lim, Col.
Morale & Propaganda:
Morale was low due to lack of training. Most men of unit were ready to desert when given the chance. Did not see propaganda leaflets.

Observed 3 Russian Officers (2 Majs & Lt Col) o/a 17 Sep 50 with 78th Ind Regt.
