3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
29 Jul 48: PW was conscripted and assigned to PYONGANG PUK TO, Security Bn, Guard plat at SINUIJU. Guarded the Bn Hq.
21 Apr 50: PW moved to PYONGYANG, and was made an errand boy for the Security Brigade, Political officer.
13 Jul 50: PW made Jr Lt and assigned to the 3rd Co, 1st Bn, 351 Inf Regt as a platoon leader at PYONGYANG. Left PYONGYANG by train with 351 Inf Bn, and arrived SEOUL two days later.
17 Sep 50: PW with three Bns moved to KARRIPON-NI but had to retreat back to SEOUL due to UN air attack.
27 Sep 50: 357 Inf Regt made a mass retreat.
10 Oct 50: PW deserted unit. At this time the Brigade objective was CHORWON.
Original Organization and Strength:
There were four battalions in the 351 Inf Regt. Four Cos made up one Bn. There was also one Patrol Unit, and a Transport unit attached to the Bn. There were approx 800 men in a Bn.
Equipment (1st Bn):
Seven HMG’s; 40 Sub-MG’s one US jeep; one truck; and one US 3/4 truck.
Unit History:
13 Jul 50: The 351 Inf Regt (Ind) was activated in PYONGYANG.
17 Sep 50: Ordered to battle at KARHYON-NI, however retreated.
27 Sep 50: With 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Bns routed, the 351 Regt made a mass retreat.
10 Oct 50: The remainder of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Bns regrouped and made up one Bn, which with the 4th Bn moved on to CHORWON.
