Information is fairly reliable, PW was hesitant at first but gave direct answers later. Not recommended for further interrogation.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
28 Oct 48: Conscripted and sent to HAMHUNG, and received training with the 3rd Div.
10 Feb 49: 3rd Div moved to WONSAN and given advanced training.
1 Aug 49: Went to PYONGYANG and attended OCS.
18 Aug 49: Graduated and commissioned 2nd Lt. Assigned to 2nd HMG Co, 1st HMG Bn, 26th Inf Brigade as Platoon Leader.
9 Oct 50: 1st HMG Bn first engaged in battle at YONPYONG and retreated on the following day.
10 Oct 50: Captured at CHORWON.

There were 7 Cos in one Bn. Namely to HMG Cos, two Inf Cos, one ENg Co, one 45 mm Mortar Co, and one 92 mm Cannon Co. There were approximately 70 men in PW’s 2nd HMG Co.
Equipment (1st HMG Bn):
18 HMG’s.
Unit History:
20 Sep 50: The 1st HMG Bn left HAMPO for YONGCHON.
6 Oct 50: 1st HMG was committed at YONPYONG. Defeated the following day.
Personalities:
1st HMG Bn CO: KWONG, Chae Hyon, Capt, age - 25. Formerly in the Manchurian Army.
Morale & Propaganda:
Morale of unit was very low, since they had few weapons and very little food.
Propaganda leaflets were effective. PW and many others wanted to desert even before he read a propaganda leaflet.
