3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
3 Apr 49 - Conscripted at MANPO and assigned to the 3rd Bn of the PYONGYANG Defense Unit. Received training until 2 Jul 50.
3 Jul 50 - PW with 200 others arrived at HWANGJU and assigned to the 5th Co of the 3rd PYONGYANG Defense Unit (3800 Unit) as a plat ldr. Commissioned Jr Lt. Received training for 17 days.
20 Jul 50 - 3800 Unit arrived at YONGPYONG while Unit Hq was at YONGCHON. Patrolled the 38th Parallel and received training at the same time.
3 Oct 50 - Unit strated establishing defensive positions along the 38th Parallel, vicinity of YONGPYONG.
11 Oct 50 - The 3800 Unit was attacked by UN Forces. Nearly all were captured or deserted.
Equipment: (3rd Bn PYONGYANG Defense Unit)
9 IMG (200 rds per gun), 18 Submachine guns (140 rds per gun).
Unit Duties:
Border Patrol.
Unit History:
3 Jul 50 - Unit was organized as a border patrol and was sent to the 38th Parallel in the vicinity of YONGPYONG.
11 Oct 50 - When UN Forces attacked unit was annihilated.
Knowledge of Other Units:
1st Bn (3700 Unit) and 3rd Bn (3900 Unit). PYONGYANG Defensive Unit believed to have been along the 38th Parallel at the same time as the 3800 Unit.
Personalities:
3800 Unit CO - PEK, Ha Yon, Maj.
Morale and Propaganda:
Morale was low due to lack of training. Did not observe any propaganda leaflets.
