3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
2 Jul 50: Conscripted at PYONGYANG and sent to Officer’s Training School for 14 days.
30 Jul 50: Commissioned Jr Lt and assigned to 78th Regt at SARIWON. Later transferred to 26th Brig.
1 Sep 50: Assigned to the 45 mm Arty Co, 2nd Bn, 26th Brig as plat ldr. Trained plat for about 20 days at NAMCHONJOM.
28 Sep 50: Arrived at YONCHON with the 26th Brg Hq and 2nd Bn. Established defensive position until attacked.
8 Oct 50: Was attacked by ROK Forces. Unit retreated. PW seserted unit and surrendered on 9 Oct 50.

26th Bn (634 Unit) 3,500 men consisting of 4 Bns. 6 Cos each Bn; one 82mm Mortar Co; two Rifle Cos; two HMG Cos; and one 45mm Co. 3 Sections directly under Bn, one AT Plat; one Communication Plat; and one special unit whose duties were to shoot all UN Officers on sight. They were armed with sniper rifles.
Equipment (2nd Bn):
Two 82 mm moratrs (1000 rds); 18 HMG’s; nine LMG’sl 12 SMG’s and one AT Gun.
Unit Duties:
38th Parallel border patrol.
Unit History:
The 26th Brig is believed to have been organized at NAMCHONJOM sometime in Aug 50. This brigade consisted mostly of recruits.
On 8 Oct 50 was overrun by ROK Forces while hodling defensive positions at YONCHON.
