3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
24 Jul 50 : Conscripted at PYONGYANG and attended Officers Training School for 20 days.
14 Aug 50 : Commissioned Lt and assigned to 2nd Co, 3rd Eng Anti-Invasion Bn at PYONGYANG. Unit trained for about one month on laying anti-tank and anti-personnel mines.
16 Sep 50 : Arrived at HAEJU for further training.
17 Oct 50 : Retreated to CHAERYONG and met UN Forces. Most of the men surrendered.
Unit Organization and Strength:
3rd Engr Anti-Invasion Bn (430 men). Three Cos and one supply plat and one Recon plat directly attached to Bn.
Equipment:
Five trucks ; 24 sub-machine guns ; 30 anti-tank mines (detonation weight 80kg) ; and 60 anti-personnel mines. Mines were thrown away at SINWON-NI.
Unit History:
The 3rd Engr Anti-Invasion Bn was originated at PYONGYANG. 90% of officers being students while all EM were former farmers.
Knowledge of other Units:
The 2nd Eng Anti-Invasion Bn was at CHINNAMPO o/a 15 Sep 50.
