PW was cooperative but information limited due to short period of service in the 32nd Div. Information fairly reliable.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
17 Oct 48: Volunteered at HAMHUNG, assigned to 3rd Div and received training for 8 months.
17 Jun 49: Assigned to 45mm Arty Bn, 3rd Div as a supply clerk.
30 Sep 49: Arrived with unit to POK KYE-RI.
20 Apr 50: The 45mm Arty Bn at SHINTON LI (12 km S of CHORWON) while 3rd Div stayed at POK KYE-RI.
9 Sep 50: Assigned to the 2nd Bn, 1st Regt, 32nd Div as a Plat Ldr at CHORWON. Elements of 32nd Div were dispersed around CHORWON.
7 Oct 50: UN Forces entered CHORWON and all elements of 32nd Div were routed.
10 Oct 40: Surrendered to UN Forces.
Unit Organization and Strength:
32nd Div - 3 Inf Regts (2,000 men each)
Equipment (1st Regt):
14.7 AT guns, LMG’s, sub-machine guns and rifles. Believed only 1/3 of unit was armed.
Unit History:
25 Sep 50: The 32rd Div was newly organized at CHORWON. All officers were experienced while all EM were recruits. Unit was assigned to hold defensive positions in the vicinity of CHORWON.
7 Oct 50: Unit was overrun by UN Forces, many men of unit captured.
Morale and Propaganda:
Morale low due to lack of training and equipment. Did not see any propaganda leaflets.
